You kid’s bedroom have to follow some norms and rules in order to be the cozy and safe nest your want it to be, where you children will be able to grow safely. These are a few tips.

Choosing the right crib
The frame of a crib is more than a fun decorative frame, it has to respond to very strict regulations before being brought to the market. Cribs that do not meet one of the requirements are banned and considered hazardous. For example, to be within allowed regulations, the crib must have slats that are not more than 2 2/3 inches apart (2.5 inches with the wedge test) or not allow a rectangular block of 2 ½ inches by 3 ¼ inches by 3 ¼ inches inserted in any position to pass in the case of contoured or irregular slats. Regulations were created to avoid the risks of the baby’s head or limbs to get stuck between the slats or other parts of the crib. For maximal security, it is highly recommended to buy a new crib than to use a second hand crib frame, as they may not pass new security norms, or may have been recalled for various problems. You can find more information about baby cribs at http://www.cpsc.gov/businfo/regsumcrib.pdf.

Tip #1. If you feel like repainting a crib or a frame, think about using ecological and possible organic paint, because baby may feel the need to bite the slats of the crib frame.

Look out for electrical sources
As soon as baby will start crawling around, we bet that the first thing they will do is touch anything that mom and dad don’t want them to play with. This is why it is important to remember to block any electrical outlets and to hide any wires that are easily accessible.

Your favorite furniture : a potential source of hazards
Babies are curious and unfortunately, very brave. They will climb the highest furniture : the couch, the sofa, the small dresser, the shelfs of… You get what we mean. To prevent accidental injuries and unecessary worries, use safety brackets to secure your furniture to the wall. Use edge and corner guards for your furniture and any edge that could potentially be dangerous for your little one. Also think about removing the keys from the locks!

Try to purchase furniture for your baby or kids. This will help baby develop their own autonomy. For example, look for a small table where baby will be able to sit at and draw and colour. This will also reduce their temptation to use the big tables.

Make clean up something fun
Your little one will find out quickly how to make their clean bedroom into a real warzone. A messy bedroom is an environment full of hazards, such as tripping over a toy or slipping on a sheet of paper. It is never too early to teach your kid to clean up after they are done cleaning. Kids can learn how to put their stuff away as early as 30 months. Buy him or her a little box on wheels, that they will be able to push around to clean up. At that age, your little one can make the difference between what goes where. Present them their new responsibility as something fun. Plus, they will be more than happy to be regarded as a grown up.

Cozy in the belly of their mom, the fœtus sleeps and wakes up anytime they want, with no distinction of the day or the night, unlike adults. This is why asking a newborn baby to care about the day or the night is pointless. It is not until 3 to 6 months that the biological clock starts working properly, giving the baby the ability to organize his or her sleeping phases, allowing for complete nights of sleep, or at least 6 full hours of sleep in a row.

Newborn to 3-6 months of age.

Infants less than one year of age and especially less than 6 months of age will naturally wake up several times during the night. Even though it is a natural thing, it is never too early to give your little one some good sleeping habits (see below), and especially to teach your baby to fall asleep without your or your spouse help or presence.

3-6 months to 1 year

At 6 months, if your little one still doesn’t have a regular night sleep pattern, you may need to start reinforcing good habits. Here are some tips to help your baby sleep through the night.

If you haven’t already done it, let your baby sleep in their own bedroom. Throughout the night, your little one will probably wake and cry. This is normal for an infant, and you need to resist the temptation of jumping out of the bed, run to your child’s bedroom and pick him or her up in your arms. Having your child sleep in a separate bedroom will make this more easy.

Give your child some hints to help him make a distinction between day and night. Leave the blinds on during daytime and turn off the lights at night, when you are putting your little one to sleep. Try to not turn the light back on until the morning.

If your little one cries at night, do not automatically run to the bedroom with baby’s bottle. Otherwise, you might open the door to bad habits, such as asking for food every night for the next months to come.

If your baby sleeps through a whole night, congratulate him or her. It is not because he still an infant that baby doesn’t understand encouragement. This will only help you child evolve faster.

Do not let your baby fall asleep on your or in your arm like a newborn baby. Put your baby to sleep in their crib, and don’t forget a little “good night” when they fall asleep. Don’t cradle your baby and leave the bedroom quickly, to allow your child to get use to sleeping without you in the same room.

For all these reasons, it is a good idea to have a baby safety monitor. Baby safety monitors allow you to check on your little one without having to rush in their bedroom at the first noise.

1-3 years old

Is your child between 1 to 3 years old and is still waking up at night on a regular basis, asking for you attention? In this case, you need to introduce and impose strict routines. At that age, your child is learning to earn their own autonomy. They are learning to talk and to walk, no wonder they want to do what they want at night. This is the “I don’t want to go to bed” stage, a stage that may last longer if you don’t impose on them good sleeping habits. So here are some tips to help your child sleep at night.

If you are coming back from work late, don’t send your child to bed right away. Your child is probably too excited to spend some time with you to fall sleep. Chit chat with him or her, read a book, tell them a story. This will allow your child to relax and fall asleep faster.

If your child is in the middle of playing a game or drawing, don’t send them to bed right away just because it’s bed time. Allow them to finish what they are doing, with the promise that they will finish what they are working on quickly.

Give your child a relaxing and calm environment and make bedtime something they will look forward to. Sing a song, listen to their favorite song, tell a story or ask them to tell you a story. Being with you just before bedtime will make transition from playtime to the loneliness of bedtime much easier.

Check out for sleepy signs. As soon as your little one starts yawning, it’s probably bed time.

Don’t be too rigid about bed time. If your kid is not sleepy yet, allow them to sleep a little bit later, then come back to a more reasonable sleep times.

If your kid sneaks in your bed every morning at 4 or 5 AM, don’t simply ignore it. This occasional habit might become a bad habit and worsen their sleeping problems. Be firm and explain them that parents have their own bed, just like he or she has his or her own bed. You can allow you child to sleep in the same bedroom with their older brother or sister, for a little while. This can solve some problems without enforcing the bad habit of needing a parent to fall asleep.

In the 70’s, parents were told to position their baby to sleep on their stomach, or prone position, to lower the risks of the baby inhaling their burps. However, this sleeping position seemed to also be associated with a higher incidence of SIDS, or Sudden Infant Death Syndrom.

This is not until 1992 that, with clear and precise stats, a reports by the American Academics of Pediatrics advised that tummy sleeping in babies was increasing the chance of SIDS. 1994 marks the initiation of a national campaing to advise and encourage parents and caregivers to put their healthy infant for sleep on their back or side (nonprone or supine position) unless advised otherwise by a pediatrician or a doctor for specific cases (premature infants while they are experiencing respiratory disease, infants with symptomatic gastroesophageal reflux, and babies with certain upper airway malformations such as Robin Syndrome.).

Why back sleeping

When sleeping on their back, it is easier for babyies to breathe, which is even more true in case of rhinopharyngitis or bronchiolitis.

Infants will regulate their temperature better, especially if they have a fever.

Avoid asphyxiation risks (due to obstruction by the crib mattress, the side of the bed, or a heavy fabric).

Remember that while supine position is advise during baby’s sleep, it is still recommended to give your child some tummy time when they are awake, for developmental reasons.

What you should rigorously follow

Avoid the use a quilt or a pillow until the baby is at least 12 months.

Avoid using any soft surfaces and gas-trapping objects, such as fluffy stuffed animals.

Use a firm crib mattress that will fit the crib properly.

Use a swaddle blanket to cover your baby, or a surpyjama.

The ideal infant room temperature is between 65F-67F (19°-20°C).

Never smoke in the room where baby sleeps.

Don’t put anything around baby’s neck, including necklaces and pacifiers with a cord.

Never leave your child alone at home.

While it is recommended to have baby sleep in their own bedroom, to avoid bothering them during his or her sleep, it is okay to let your infant sleep in the same bedroom. Make sure, however, that you are not making baby sleep in the same bed as you, but in their own crib, next to you.

As much as we love baby, parents can’t be with their children at all time. Not having their baby or young kid at sight can be very stressful for any parents. This is why Baby Safety Monitors are so popular in families around the world with babies and young children. Baby safety monitors act as a “second pair of eyes” and ears and help parents watch over their kids and babies while they are in a different room.

Best Baby Monitors : the device

Their are two major components to the baby safety monitor, which are the transmitter and the receiver. The transmitter component goes in baby’s room and the receiver componant, of course, goes in the other room near you. By using a baby safety monitor, you will know at all time whether baby is crying or unhappy.

Best Baby Monitors : features

What should you look for when purchasing your first baby safety monitor? Here are a few things to keep in mind – size, double receivers, low power alerts, audio noise alerts, 2.4 GHz interference.

Size. Avoid too big and clunky, but also too small. Preferably, choose fairly light baby safety monitors, as you may want to carry the receiver around with you in the house. If you prefer baby video monitors to baby audio monitors, keep in mind that the smaller the receiver is, the more difficult it will be to view the screen. On the other hand, it could be a hassle to carry big baby safety monitors with you all day long, although you will receive a crisper and more detailed image. Bigger baby video monitors also often come with an interesting fun feature: they often offer Video Output, which can be used to record baby.

Double receivers. Two parents, two baby safety monitors. The second baby monitor can also be kept in a second room, to avoid you carrying your monitor receiver all the time (for example: if you are washing the windows, you may want to keep one in the living room and one in the bedroom). Your second receiver can also serve as a backup receiver, in the case where you lose or break the first receiver.

Low battery alerts. Low battery alerts are extremely important features of baby safety monitors. A baby safety monitor with no battery is obviously of no use. Having a low battery alert will remind you to plug in your monitor. Remember that it is better to keep your monitor plugged in as often as possible, to avoid problems (i.e. the monitor shutting down for low batteries when you are in the washrooms…)

Audio noise alerts. A useful feature of baby safety monitors that alerts you if you are making too much noise and blocking the sound emitted from the receiver.

2.4 GHz digital. Because of all the wireless electronics surrounding us, the 2.4GHz frequency is the most efficient way of transmission for baby safety monitors video. Make sure that you do not have a 2.4GHz (such as some cordless home phone), as it can create an interference with the baby video monitor.

Angelcare baby monitor : a baby safety monitor and a baby breathing monitor

SIDS, or sudden infant death syndrome, is the worry of many parents. To reduce the risk of SIDS, there are precautions parents can do, like making sure that baby is not sleeping on its tummy. However, knowing that it is possible to also have something else to help you keep an eye on their angel 24hours/7days can be very comforting for many parents.

This is why the Angelcare baby monitor is so popular among the parents of infants. The Angelcare baby monitor act as a baby safety monitor and a baby breathing monitor. The device includes an audio monitor, that allow parents to listen to their little one, And a sensor pad that will detect any movement coming from the baby, including baby’s breathing. The two-in-one feature is a real bonus and allow parents to have some peace of mind and even have better hours of sleep.

.

The baby audio monitor is a convenient device that allows the parents to listen to their little one when they are not in the same room or area. The Angelcare baby monitor comes with two receivers, to be used as the parents or caregivers convenience. Both the nursery and the parents units automatically converts to battery power in case of power failure includes and have a low battery indicator. A sound lights let the parent know that the sound feature is on and working.

The baby breathing monitor consists of a sensor pad that is set under the crib mattress. The Angelcare baby monitor will then record any micro-movement coming from the mattress, including the breathing of the baby. If for 20 seconds or more, the sensor is unable to sense any movement, or the movement becomes too shallow, the Angelcare baby monitor will send an alarm to the nursery unit with will immediately alert to the parents receiver, and a sound alarm will notify anybody nearby that the baby needs immediate assistance.

The Angelcare baby monitor is a great innovation. Using an Angelcare baby monitor, parents are then able to do chores around the house, and have a good night of sleep soundly at night because they worry less about how their babies are doing and even save your baby’s life!

You came to the right place. The Zopid-Interference free is the best baby monitor a parent can look for. While some people hesitate to buy because they have never heard about the company itself, parents who decide to go for the Zopid won’t regret it, and this for 2 reasons : the quality of the product itself and the incomparable quality of the customer service.

.

Baby safety monitors are useful devices used for parents of babies or young kids to check on them when not in the same room. It can be difficult for parents to work or do chores and no waking up the baby when in the same room. Because babies require a lot of sleep, parents are often obligated to make their babies sleep in a different room, which can often make them very nervous. Baby safety monitors will relieve parents from their worries, especially if they work well!

The ZOpid-interference free has a camera unit that can be mounted over your baby’s crib. The baby safety monitor will send images and sounds from your baby’s room.
The Pros:
- very clear image from the video;
- the manufacturer says that the 250 frequency-hopping sequences will minimize interference, which is true, the video itself shows no interference with other wi-fi devices;
- the sound from this best baby monitor is very clear, the device goes to sleep mode when there is no noise and wakes up at any click (the manufacturer calls it intelligent voice activity detector in order to save power);
- both the camera and the parent receiver monitor include internal rechargeable batteries;
- if needed, both the transmitter and the receiver can be powered from either from an AC adapter or from a USB (this is so cool!);
- the camera has a zoom, which is an interesting feature;
- the camera has an infrared light to see at night;
- the parents units is small, light and very portable;
- the customer service is excellent, they will respond to your emails within a few hours.
The Cons:
- this baby safety monitor has only one camera, having at least two parent units would be more useful, in case one breaks or if both parents wants to keep a baby safety monitor unit with them;
- the night infrared light is not that strong, it kinda shows a small area of the camera rather than the full area;
- the camera has to be fixed if wall mounted, which make it difficult to use in other rooms or to bring with your on vacations.

Overall, this is definitely a baby safety monitors product all parents with babies and young toddlers should buy.

For our first child, of all the baby safety monitors, I originally decided to purchase the Graco Ultra Clear II 49mhz Baby safety Monitor. It was a nice little device at a very reasonable price that allowed us to listen to our baby from other rooms, allowing us to come and check on our little one when he was crying or having nightmares. However, I felt that, although it was working fine, it did tend to have interference with other electronic devices in our small condo. My wife’s friend who was using the Philips Avent Digital Screen Baby Monitor w/ DECT Technology thought very high of it. This is why we decided to purchase the Philips Avent Digital Screen Baby Monitor with DECT Technology and to give it a try.

I think that Philips Avent Digital Screen baby safety monitors is an excellent baby safety monitor so far. I love the transmitter, the part that goes in baby’s bedroom. It has a fun shape (almost like a triangle) and comes with a nightlight built-in. Moreover, the transmitter can also play different songs (awesome!) which volume can be controlled. It is not too big, so fits well pretty much everywhere in the room, whether it is by the crib or a on piece of furniture.

As for the Philips Avent Digital Screen baby safety monitors’ receiver or the nursery unit, the part that stays with the parent, it is small and very portable. However, I did not care too much for the necklace/belt clip that was included in the package. Using this best baby monitor itself is very easy as well as the device is so user friendly. It is very intuitive. My wife and myself thought that this best baby monitor’ screen display was very user friendly and easy to read. It displays very useful information, such as the temperature in the baby’s room, the battery life remaining, connection between the transmitter and the receiver and whether the sound is on or not.

I first wondered why there was a temperature sensor on the baby safety monitor. But when summer came, I was more than happy to actually have a temperature sensor. With the head and the air con, the room temperature can quickly fluctuate. Having this temperature sensor would allow us to quickly react if the room was getting to warm or too cold and as we know, babies are much more sensitive to extreme temperatures than us adults.

The big innovation about this device is the “DECT technology (stands for Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunication)” in baby sarfety monitors,. According to Philips, this technology has the ability to give you crystal-clear sound, without interruptions. It is possible to adjust the sensors of the baby safety monitor. And Philips pretty much guarantees zero interference from other devices. As a matter of fact, I have tested the best baby monitor around other electronic gadgets (cordless phones, other baby safety monitors and a microwave) and the sound remained crystal-clear, just as Philips guaranteed.

I was really impressed with the fact that the sensitivity of this baby safety monitor could actually be adjusted. As a matter of fact, it was possible to almost completely remove the background noise and still have the best baby monitor work 100% well. I mean by background noise that comes from the fan, an open window, etc. While it was possible to eliminate that noise, any other sound, any little click, any cry would be perceive extremely clearly. While with other baby safety monitors, it is impossible to get rid of that “ssshhhh” background noise, the Philips baby safety monitor excelled in that field. Moreover, this features also allows the light from the parents receiver to light or not. When there is sound, a light lights up on the parents receiver, which can be annoying at night. But with this adjustable sensitivity and the ability of totally removing the background noise, the light really lights up when needed, which mean when baby makes a noise or cries.

In the end, my wife and myself were more than satisfied with this Philips best baby monitor. We were glad that a friend recommended the baby safety monitor to us and would like to recommend it to other parents. Everything about this baby safety monitor is great, and we foresee many more hours of good usage of this device. Happy shopping!
